When you step into Bucky’s, one, know you are about to treat your taste buds to some of the best barbecue, and, two, you will not be leaving hungry. All the meat is wood-smoked, giving it an awesome mesquite flavor. My chicken was very well-seasoned, and the meat was so tender it fell off the bone.
You can dress up your barbecue by adding the tomato-based or honey-based sauce (both are homemade and delicious). The potato salad was creamy and chunky, and the sweet potato crunch was a real treat. Bucky’s has a distinctive trait, and that is that everyone is treated like family. That alone goes a long way when it comes to customer service and satisfaction.

There’s definitely no room for confusion. When you go to Bucky’s, you go for one reason and one reason alone, barbecue. And Bucky knows barbecue. My pork platter came with a choice of two sides and, of course, an ample amount of sweet, smoky barbecue that just melts in your mouth. And when it comes to barbecue, the secret is in the sauce. Bucky’s has a choice of tomato and mustard-based sauces that tantalize the tongue and add a little zest to the tender-smoked goodness. The chalkboard menu offered a handful of sides, as well as barbecue chicken and ribs. If it’s barbecue you want, head to Bucky’s.

This is a great place for a relaxing, no-frills meal out. The focus is definitely on the food and not the decor, as expected for a good barbecue spot. The employees were extremely friendly and the food was excellent. The menu featured barbecue, of course, but also offered chicken as an alternative and had a variety of home-cooking type sides like macaroni and cheese and green beans for either meal. They had a good selection of to-go and bulk items for big parties and holidays. All in all, this is a great casual “pop in and eat” restaurant.

Eating at Bucky’s was like eating at home; the restaurant setting is family style. I had the pulled pork plate with cole slaw and sweet baked beans. The barbecue pork was melt-in-your mouth tender and quite delicious. The beans had a distinct flavor; I think they add cinnamon. My feeling is that they have the best cole slaw of any of the barbecue places I have visited in Greenville. Be prepared to pay in cash, they don’t accept debit or credit cards. But considering how quickly you are served, that is just a minor inconvenience. This is a place worth going back to because the barbecue is great.
